
I was born in London in 1978. I decided I wanted to be an artist when I was about 3, painting in the corner of my parents' studio. We moved to Hampshire when I was six. I went to school at Daneshill, and then Farnborough Hill, which was on a hill. In Farnborough. Not surprising, perhaps, but then Daneshill was as flat as a pancake and not a scandanavian of any variety in sight. I did a fine art foundation course at City and Guilds of London Art School, and then went to St Anne's College, Oxford, to read.... Philosophy, Politics and Economics (with very little Economics). I then decided it was time to pick up the pencils, only to discover I'd forgotten how to draw. I gradually regained that ability, spurred on by a few solo exhibitions, only to lose it again during career breaks to get hitched, move to Somewhere Near Stroud, and have a couple of children. I'm just emerging from the second of those, with my head overflowing with ideas which keep on falling out all over the place. But that's having a relatively small baby for you. Now let's see if my hand will do what my head wants it to... |
